A recent Toronto Star article provides a nice overview of car insurance and what questions you should be asking when purchasing your car insurance. Car insurance coverage is important not only to protect you in the event that a person is injured due to your negligence, but it also provides you with comprehensive medical coverage in addition to any other medical benefit coverage that you may already have. You should also make sure that you review your auto insurance coverage with your broker or insurance company annually to ensure that your insurance coverage is adequate and meets your current needs. There are a number of options that you may not be aware of, such as increased coverage for income replacement benefits (from $400 up to $1,000 per week). You may also want to consider increasing your personal liability coverage from $1,000,000 to $2,000,000. While the coverage is a considerable increase you will be surprised how little your premium increase will be. Take the time to review your car insurance, it will be time well invested.
