Crash Creates My-Grain Headache For Trucking Company

Shantz Station Road was closed all afternoon Tuesday, following a mishap involving a truck owned and operated by Agri-Excel.

The vehicle carrying a load of wheat suddenly left Shantz Station Road, snapped off a hydro pole as it entered the ditch, tipped and ended up on its side, spilling the load of grain into the field.

The driver was shaken up but not injured.

After surveying the scene, there seems to be little indication as to why the transport suddenly left the road and plunged into the ditch. Shantz Station Road has virtually no shoulders, and very deep ditches. If you're on the shoulder--you're in the ditch.

Distraction may have played a role in the roll, or avoiding an animal. Road conditions were perfect, and the day was clear skies and fine.
