An Early Blast Of Summer To Hit Region

Although the official start of summer is still a few days away, beginning Monday, the Region and most of Southern Ontario is set for the hot days of summer.  Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Monday morning.

“Very warm air is projected to arrive today over southwestern Ontario. The heat is expected to intensify on Tuesday, building into a three-day heat episode. Today's high temperatures are expected to reach the thirty degree mark in the southwest, then rise well into the thirties Tuesday through Thursday, eventually affecting communities across Southern Ontario. Elevated humidity combined with high  temperatures give humidex values of 40 and higher.  Night-time temperatures will also remain very warm and are not expected to drop below 22 degrees in many areas.

How To Beat The Heat

The the unexpected heat wave will make for very uncomfortable conditions and moderate to high readings in the air quality health index. It is advised to stay in an air conditioned place or seek shade when possible, drink plenty of water and limit physical outdoor activity.

Temperatures are expected to cool off by Friday over all regions with the passage of a cold front.”
