Waterloo Regional Police to Host a Polar Plunge in Support of Special Olympics Ontario
Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is calling on the community to join its members and Plunge for a Purpose in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
The Service will host its first-ever Polar Plunge on January 26, 2019 and January 27, 2019 at Waterloo Park, during Winterloo festivities. Several WRPS members will take part in the plunge, which is a signature provincial event of the Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative benefiting Special Olympics Ontario.
“The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a long-time supporter of the Special Olympics and we are very proud to be able to show this support through fundraisers such as the Polar Plunge,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “Being able to do something to help these incredible athletes reach their dreams is an invaluable experience and we encourage the entire community to come take part in that experience, while having a little bit of fun!”
Plungers can either pay the registration fee or fundraise the minimum requirement to take part in the event. One hundred percent of the money will go to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
The goal for the Waterloo Regional Police Service during this event is $3,000. Registration is $30 or, if you fundraise $50 you will waive the registration fee.
